Born in 1951, jazz piano ace Kenny Werner (who's played with Joe Henderson, Mel Lewis, and singer Betty Buckley, among others) is of a generation of players to whom the Beatles' SGT. PEPPER is as valid and vivid an influence as Miles Davis's KIND OF BLUE. Werner is inspired by the jazz tradition, but isn't limited by narrow interpretations of it. As such, LAWN CHAIR SOCIETY is an engaging, stimulating blend of acoustic post-bop jazz, electronic soundscapes, orchestral textures, and a touch of funk. Horn soloists Dave Douglas and Chris Potter shine alongside Werner's dexterous, lyrical piano.
