Aussie experimental headbangers Alchemist continue their grand adventure on their sixth album, TRIPSIS. With a blend of powerful thrash and sublime melody, Alchemist explore a unique, almost psychedelic aural landscape dotted with electronics and keyboards. They've tossed around the term "surf thrash" to describe their sound, and, given their stylistic flourishes and Aussie origins, it's more than appropriate. Songs like "Nothing in No Time" and "Grasp At Air" dip and soar like a flying saucer but never fail to shred. It's brainy stuff that fans of Faith No More, Fear Factory, or any metal band that ever toyed with prog rock will enjoy.
