This box set from Turner Classic Movies caters to fans of comedienne Lucille Ball (1911-89) with four of Ball's most popular big-screen features, produced between 1938 and 1956. First up is THE LONG, LONG TRAILER, a Vincente Minnelli comedy from 1954 co-starring Ball and then-husband Desi Arnaz, Sr. (at the height of their I LOVE LUCY fame) as Daisy and Nicky, two newlyweds who court disaster on a cross-country trip with an RV. Next on the bill is Ball and Arnaz's follow-up to TRAILER, also from MGM: the 1956 comedy FOREVER DARLING - with the pair as a couple whose marriage is saved by the arrival of guardian angel James Mason. The set then jumps back to 1938 for the Marx Brothers comedy ROOM SERVICE, with the famed comedy team as washed up theater producers trying to fend off credit problems (Ball co-stars as the ensemble's straight woman). It wraps up with 1943's DU BARRY WAS A LADY, with comedian Red Skelton as a men's room attendant who drinks a potent cocktail, and dreams that he is Louis XV of France and Ball is Madame Du Barry.
