Product Description:
Contains 2 LPs on 1 CD: COMPETITION COUPE (1964)/ORBIT KAMPUS (1964).
The Astronauts: Rich Fifield (vocals, guitar); Stormy Patterson (vocals, bass); Bob Demmon (guitar, trumpet, piano); Dennis Lindsey (guitar); Jim Gallagher (drums).
Personnel: Bob Demmon, Dennis Lindsey (vocals, guitar); Jim Gallagher (vocals, drums); Stormy Patterson, Rich Fifield (vocals).
Two mid-'60s albums by a Colorado band that had the California sound down cold; their big hit, alas not included here, was the evocative "Baja." COMPETITION COUPE features non-stop surf and car-themed originals, while ORBIT CAMPUS finds them covering mainstream rock hits to surprisingly raunchy effect; their ferocious cover of Bo Diddley's "Diddy Wah Diddy," for example, doesn't suffer in comparison with the later Capt.Beefheart version.
