Description by OLDIES.com:
Based upon a true story, this pioneer tale centers on the Sager family, who pack up their belongings in Missouri and head off on the Oregon Trail for the 2,000 mile journey to a new life. Encountering adventures and hardships along the way, the family is struck with the loss of both parents. The seven children, in spite of the wishes of the adults in the wagon train, decide to continue the journey their parents started and complete their parent's dream.
Toby McTeague is a teenager living in northern Canada, with his father and brother, who is raising sled dogs with the hopes of winning a prestigious sled-dog race. When times grow tough for the family, the relationship between Toby and his father becomes strained to the point where Toby runs away, which threatens his plans to enter the race. It takes the intervention of an old family friend to bring the father and son together and save Toby's chance to race for the championship.
