A collection of hits by Scottish rock band, Aztec Camera, featuring such songs as "Oblivious" and "Deep and Wide and Tall".
This budget-priced collection of "sophistipop" from Scottish guitarist/vocalist/songwriterRoddy Frame (aka Aztec Camera) is (for the most part) a neutered version of 2001's 16-track Best of Aztec Camera. As digitally remastered anthologies go, WEA International's Deep and Wide and Tall: The Platinum Collection does an adequate job of providing an overview of the hyper-literate, new wave/college rock outfit's nearly 15-year career ("Oblivious," "All I Need Is Everything," "Deep Wide & Tall," "Let Your Love Decide," "Walk Out to Winter," "Pillar to Post"), especially when it comes to representing the band's nearly perfect 1983 debut High Land, Hard Rain. Longtime fans will stick to their albums, but curious listeners looking to meet in the middle of the bridge between Elvis Costello and the Beautiful South will find much to love here. ~ James Christopher Monger
