Led by Duke Ellington's grandson, the guitarist Edward Kennedy Ellington II, this ongoing tribute orchestra hymning one of the giants of 20th-century jazz performs 10 vintage Ellington compositions, heard here in new arrangements by the band's pianist, Norman Simmons. Highlights include a Latin-tinged version of Juan Tizol's "Caravan" and a respectful reading of the jazz-spiritual "Come Sunday," both featuring fine vocals by the nonet's accomplished singer, Nancy Reed.
