The fine baritonist Nick Brignola (who here also plays a bit of soprano, tenor and clarinet) is well-featured on a wide range of superior standards and obscurities. With the strong assistance of pianist Kenny Barron, bassist George Mraz and drummer Billy Hart, Brignola is heard at his best playing everything from bop and swing to Ralph Towner's ballad "North Star." ~ Scott Yanow
