This is another fine Boozoo Chavis album. It was warmly produced by Terry Adams, who's also worked on a couple other of Boozoo's releases (he's also a founding member of NRBQ and wrote a different song called "Boozoo, That's Who" for their WILD WEEKEND album). The zydeco rhythm starts up on the opening number, "Lula Lula Don't You Go to Bingo," and never lets up right through to the closing, "Boozoo's Shuffle." What's remarkable about Chavis is that he's continued to find ever-new life in a genre that, to the casual listener, might seem a small field to be farming. He's not adding any fancy arrangements or calling upon elaborate production techniques; he's just playing music that pours out of him with complete commitment and honesty. Chavis's supple Majic Sounds follow his every move with power and grace. BOOZOO, THAT'S WHO! proves why Boozoo is the zydeco master.
