Still reeling after the hard-fought battle to repel Legion, Japan is now reminded of a deadly foe from the past. The gyaos have returned. And this time, the ornery man-eating birds have not only increased their numbers, but they have also added a new menacing member to their destructive little club. Iris, the flying, blood-sucking squid monster, is all rested up and ready to rumble. Raised by a young girl whose parents were squished by Gamera in a horrible accident, Iris takes her learned hatred and goes out on the warpath. Dr. Nagamine and Inspector Osaka are reunited to help Gamera in his relentless quest to protect and save the human race. Can Gamera ground the Gyaos? Can the turtle tie up the terrible tentacles? Do the hapless humans and the rowdy reptile have what it takes to thwart the revenge of Iris?
Gamera the benevolent giant turtle is back in this film produced by the same group responsible for 1995's GAMERA: GUARDIAN OF THE UNIVERSE. REVENGE OF IRIS begins where ATTACK OF LEGION left off, as Japan is recovering from a devastating alien invasion. Now, an enemy from the past has come back: the giant man-eating birds known as Gyaos have returned for revenge with a new recruit named Iris. Iris is eager to pick a fight with his nemesis Gamera, who accidentally squished Iris' parents, and this flying squid proves to be an able adversary for the mighty Gamera. Teaming up with Dr. Nagamine and Inspector Osaka, Gamera must both fend off Iris and save the Japanese public from the wrath of the Gyaos.
