"[A] hilariously weird 1963 super-sub-and-undersea-kingdom saga, replete with glittery effects and political subtext."
Description by OLDIES.com:
A gripping sci-fi action thriller by the creative forces behind the Godzilla series. Directed by the great Ishiro Honda, musical score by Akira Ifukube and SPFX by Eiji Tsuburaya. The Earth shakes violently. The tremors are caused by the undersea Mu Empire, a belligerent dominion seeking to reclaim their rule above sea level. The Muans are aided and protected in their crusade by their God Manda, a gigantic sea serpent dragon. But all hopes rest on Captain Jinguiji and his super submarine Atragon to stop the Muans.
A flying submarine and a series of terrifying sea creatures go head to head in this wild 1960s feature from director Ishiro Honda. No matter how many strange weapons it accumulates, the undersea Mu Empire cannot possibly become a match for Battleship Atragon.
