This 3-disc collection contains recordings of the Tiny Grimes Quintet, Charlie Parker's Reboppers, Charlie Parker's All Stars, and the Miles Davis All Stars. Remastered by Jack Towers from original acetates. Includes a 24-page booklet by Phil Schaap.
Personnel includes: Charlie Parker (saxophone); Dizzy Gillespie (trumpet, piano); Miles Davis (trumpet); John Lewis, Duke Jordan (piano); Tiny Grimes (guitar); Max Roach (drums).

Recorded at WOR Studios, New York, New York on September 15, 1944 and November 26, 1945; Harry Smith Studios, New York, New York on May 8 and August 14, 1947, September 18 & 24, 1948; United Sound Studios, Detroit, Michigan on December 21, 1947.
Although they do not contain the number of classic sides found within the Dial collection, the importance of Charlie Parker's Savoy recordings is more than justified by the involvement of bebop piano genius Bud Powell (perhaps the only other true bebopper playing with the level of invention and profundity of Parker himself) and the fascinating play-off between a young and troubled Miles Davis and his own hero Dizzy Gillespie. The Savoy records include the legendary 'KoKo' (a breakneck torrent of improvisation based around the tricky 'Cherokee' chord sequence), and two classic blues in F major: 'Billie's Bounce' and 'Now's The Time'.
