Includes liner notes by Bob Blumenthal.
A supremely melodic saxophone player, Getz's critics sometimes accused him of playing too "prettily." This didn't sway his fans, however, for Getz was one of the best-selling jazz artists, epitomizing the "cool jazz" sound, and introducing many Americans to bossa nova. ("The Girl From Ipanema" was a top-10 hit in 1964.) He is presented in this compilation in a variety of settings: small combos, larger groups, and ensembles with strings (such as the Eddie Sauter pieces "I'm Late, I'm Late" and "Her").
