That the rock and soul-oriented Atco label released a record by a Latin dance band - and assigned Tom Dowd to engineer it - right in the middle of the Beatles explosion in 1965 lets you know just how hot Louie Ramirez's band was! But then, this band was the first new Latin band to gain a real following on the East Coast in many years, and as it was made up of twenty year-olds (most notably vibraphonist Ramirez and co-leader and percussionist Ozzie Torrens), it made sense to tie its fortunes to the Atco label.
