Description One in a series of "This Is?" albums that Capitol released for their flagship artists like Sinatra and Dean Martin, "This Is Nat "King" Cole" collected a group of singles that had just missed on the charts. But this was no mere compilation album; not only were all but one of the songs ballads, but they were all arranged by Nelson Riddle, so this 1957 release ends up sounding an awful lot like the "concept" albums (like "Sings for Two in Love") that Nat and Nelson had cooked up together for Capitol.

This early (1957) example of a record label's greatest-hits package features a variety of mid-`50s Nat "King" Cole singles, including "I'm Gonna Laugh You Right Out of My Life" and "Forgive My Heart." Several bonus tracks make their digital debut here, notably "Don't Hurt the Girl," featuring Cole performing with his original Trio accompanied by horns and strings.
