Everlasting, a sort of greatest-hits comp that really wasn't assembled in 1999, 30 years after the initial formation of Jamaican harmony trio the Mighty Diamonds (Donald "Tabby" Shaw, Fitzroy "Bunny" Simpson, Lloyd "Judge" Ferguson), is somewhat of a mixed bag, although it does feature a sleek, horn-augmented version of "Ghetto Living" and the strikingly rhythmic "Bouswazee." Hardly essential, Everlasting is still worth a listen, since the Diamonds never fail to deliver beautiful harmonies, but one of their classic late-'70s albums like Right Time will do a much better job of spotlighting what this impressive trio can do. ~ Steve Leggett
