R&B vocalist Gerald Levert passed away in late 2006, but not before completing IN MY SONGS, which was released in early 2007. Levert's appealing style, which blends gospel earthiness and R&B smoothness, led to his remarkable string of charting singles in the 1990s, and it sounds better than ever here. In addition to Levert's suave loverman vibe on the ballads (the fine title track, for example), there are a number of excellent uptempo cuts (like the sleek, funky "Wanna Get Up With You").
