Rider Named Death (Vsadnik po imeni smert')

Russian director Karen Shakhnazarov brings Moscow at the turn of the 20th century to life in this historical epic about an anti-Czarist assassin named Georges (Andrei Panin). Based on the true-to-life novel THE PALE HORSE by socialist Boris Saviinkov, THE RIDER NAMED DEATH focuses on Georges as he leads a secret terrorist army, sending them on missions to dismantle Russia's Czarist political system. As several members of the revolutionary army are introduced, viewers learn how and why they became involved in the cause. Shaknazarov delves beyond the surface in an exploration of what makes a person fight for a terrorist cause, and the affects that such an obsession can have on the human psyche.
