Though it never really went away, it would be safe to say that funk came back in a big way in the late '90s, mostly due to the use of classic '70s funk tracks in film soundtracks like THE FULL MONTY and BOOGIE NIGHTS. Nobody does compilations better than the folks at Rhino, so their MILLENNIUM FUNK PARTY is the place to go if you want the rump-shaking, bass-popping funk gems all gathered together on one disc. Some of the biggest and best of the genre are represented here, from Wild Cherry's self-referential "Play That Funky Music, White Boy," to the bouncy ride of the Ohio's Players "Love Rollercoaster" and the Gap Band's synth-driven early-'80s hit "You Dropped a Bomb on Me."
