Billed to the "new improved" Electric Prunes, 1969's JUST GOOD OLD ROCK AND ROLL features none of the original members of the Los Angeles psychedelic rock band, and is, in fact, the work of an entirely different group. As its title implies, the album is much more straightforward than earlier Prunes outings, though a psych element does peek through from time to time (see the rambling "Giant Sunhorse"). Although a fine album in the Three Dog Night/Lovin' Spoonful vein, ROCK AND ROLL signaled the end of the initial Prunes run. (Note: Members of the original line-up resurrected the Electric Prunes name in 2001.)
