The recordings of the Roches have always inhabited a sonic world that is child-appropriate, and have infused their music with playful juxtapositions, silly sounds, witty words, and warm sentiments. This album is a true children's album, featuring songs all thematically aimed at younger listeners. That the Roches are able to manage this without alienating their adult audience is a testament to their strengths as a band. Many of these 13 songs, though they're aimed lyrically at children, aren't sonically that much different from tracks that could have been on any one of the group's previous eight releases. The title song, "Disappointed," and "Rover" are prime examples of what makes this album so good.
