"[The film] has a sequence of real Marxian magic in Harpo's neon rooftop chase..."
Groucho is Sam Grunion, private eye, who takes on a dangerous case in which he must find the missing Romanoff diamonds. The valuable jewels are hidden in a sardine tin which somehow makes it's fishy way to the backstage of a large theatrical production.
A valuable necklace has been stolen, and bumbling private eye Sam Grunion is assigned the task of finding it. He meets an odd assortment of rollicking characters as he carries out his search, including a mute kleptomaniac, a cash-poor comedy troupe and of course, a dangerous blonde. Wackiness, hijinks and pratfalls abound, as Grunion's investigation turns New York City upside down.
