Product Description:
This 20-cut Collectables compilation of Ronnie Hawkins' early hits is solid from front to back, containing his biggest singles, recorded as early as 1959 through his heyday in 1962 (many of them with the "new" Hawks, i.e., the Band). Alongside favorites such as "Forty Days" and "Mary Lou" are "Dizzy Miss Lizzie," his original reading of "Ruby Baby," "Hey Boba Lou," and his fine strolling rock & roll rendition of Hank Williams' "Hey, Good Lookin'," taken from an album of songs he recorded by the country music pioneer. There have been many collections over the years, and some go a lot deeper into Hawkins' discography. None of them sound this good, however, and none of them concentrate on just the early hits as heavily as this one with so many tracks. This is a solid buy. ~ Thom Jurek
