2 LPs on 1 CD: WORRIED MIND/I ALMOST LOST MY MIND.
Includes liner notes by Don Buday.
Worried Mind and I Almost Lost My Mind are two theme albums Ray Anthony recorded in the early '60s. Worried Mind is devoted to interpretations of country & western tunes, and I Almost Lost My Mind applies the same formula to a set of R&B songs. Both albums were made after Anthony had disbanded his big band and assembled a Vegas lounge act, and as a result, the albums are much more subdued than the brassy, danceable music that brought him success in the '50s. Both albums make use of a vocal chorus and are firmly in the easy listening camp: smooth, mellow, contemplative, but without the unique instrumental blend that characterized Anthony's big band. ~ Greg Adams
