In December 1979, around nine months before jazz demigod Bill Evans died, he toplined a special concert with his Trio, televised in Italy. That gig kicked off a lengthy international tour for the ensemble, with stops in North America, South America, and Europe. At the time, Evans was still torn to pieces by the untimely death of his brother Harry, his body racked by drugs and alcohol, but his playing remained as formidable as ever. This release documents the Rome concert, which had never been released prior to this, despite the issue of another Rome concert from the same tour on compact disc.
