Description by OLDIES.com:
10-track radio show collection including commercials and banter from St. Louis, Missouri's WIL DJ Jack Carney for an authentic 1958 Cruisin' experience!
Another in Increase Records' multi-volume series spotlighting vintage rock & roll radio DJs, Cruisin' 1958 features St. Louis mic personality Jack Carney of WIL and a fine mix of hits including Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" and the Champs' "Tequila." These and the album's several other chart-toppers certainly can be found on more substantial roundups, but one would miss out on a live studio mix that takes in vintage ads (Mercury cars, Old Spice, Gillette), station jingles, plugs for local concerts, and the College of Musical Knowledge contest. The album's Happy Days-esque cartoon cover and thorough liner notes only add to the high entertainment value. Additional song highlights include the Silhouettes' "Get a Job," Duane Eddy's "Rebel Rouser," the Royal Teens' "Short Shorts," and the Monotones' "Book of Love." Collect them all. ~ Stephen Cook
