Seize the Day and Other Stories might have been a little more satisfying if it had been either a full-fledged hits collection or a live album. Instead, it's a mix of the two, featuring five songs recorded at a Nashville concert, two newly written and recorded songs, and the original versions of some of Arends' most popular hits (although the title track is present only in the concert version). Taken as a whole, this record does make the case that Arends is one of the most talented songwriters in CCM at the turn of the millennium, even if this isn't quite the definitive hits collection it could have been. ~ Steve Huey
