An important Biblical figure known for his wisdom and wide-reaching power, King Solomon was the last king of Israel. The son of David and Bathsheba, he ascended to the throne as a child prodigy at the age of 12, and was granted by God the ability to see into men's hearts. He built the temple in Jerusalem, as well as a grandiose palace for his 700 wives, but lived a rather solitary and introspective existence until he met the beautiful queen who stole his heart. This A&E special examines their relationship, along with other aspects of the storied life of Solomon who, despite his great wisdom, saw his kingdom crumble because of his misjudgments and decadence. Unfolding through artifacts, extensive location footage, and interviews with experts, King Solomon's remarkable tale of passion at odds with intellect comes alive in glorious detail.
