Doo wop groups are big on singing about the night, the stars, the moon, and most of all, about love, and the doo wop annals are full of songs about girls, and many of those songs actually name names, like the ten tunes presented here, which celebrate Mary Lee, Deserie, Lydia, Florence, Juanita, Valarie, Cora Lee, Sookey, Lizabeth, and Linda. Of these, the most dangerous seems to be Lizabeth, who, as the Thrillers sing it, has driven the group to drink whiskey, gin, and wine just to forget her. It doesn't appear to have worked. ~ Steve Leggett
