Best known in pop music circles for launching the careers of Sam Cooke and Johnnie Taylor, the Soul Stirrers were one of black gospel's most beloved groups in the 1950s and '60s. The band most credited with launching the move towards R&B-influenced contemporary gospel, the Soul Stirrers are the fulcrum of black gospel history. The 2008 release A SOUL STIRRING REUNION brings together an entirely new group under the Soul Stirrers name under the guidance of producer and songwriter Darrell Luster, best known for his work with the Sensational Nightingales.
