Based on the series of novels by R.D. Wingfield, this popular British detective series built its success upon subtly-drawn, humane characterizations, most especially that of the main character, DI Jack Frost, played by the award-winning David Jason. True to his name, Frost exhibits an icy exterior and unorthodox work methods, eschewing paperwork and often following his intuitions, accompanied all the while by his acerbic wit and keen sense of justice. His true sensitivity shows through in subtle mannerisms and the personal involvement he takes in his work. Set in the grim town of Denton, the sixth season begins with Frost taking a leave of absence due to his grief over the loss of his partner. He soon returns to the force to investigate the link between a suspicious suicide, a drowning, and a stolen painting.
