This edition explores the life of physician and astrologer Nostradamus. Born in St Rémy, France, he became doctor of medicine in 1529, and practiced in Agen, Lyon, and other places. He set himself up as a prophet in 1547. His enturies of Predictions, in rhymed quatrains, expressed thousands of future events in obscure and enigmatical terms by brought their author a great reputation. Charles IX, on his accession to the throne, appointed him physician-in-ordinary. His predictions are still widely read as they have displayed an uncanny accuracy. The exact date of the great fire of London, and the names of Pasteur, General Francisco Franco and Hitler are included in Nostradamus'predictions.
