Early on in their career, REO Speedwagon seemed confined to opening up for bigger acts. But the band could easily rock with the big boys, as evidenced by their hard-hitting second album, 1972's T.W.O., which would prove to be the last for singer Kevin Cronin (he took a temporary leave of absence and was replaced for several albums by singer Mike Murphy). Like R.E.O's other early work, T.W.O. is almost entirely rock-based--highlights including "Music Man," "Like You Do," and "Golden Country." While fans of "Keep on Lovin' You" may be turned off by REO's rocking early work, T.W.O. is recommended to fans of no frills '70s rock 'n' roll.
