Product Description:

After the success of the STREETFIGHTER series, the Toei Studio wanted Sonny Chiba to star in another series of martial arts films. Chiba convinced Toei to base this new series on the life of his mentor, Masutatsu Oyama. Oyama was famous for championing a new form of Japanese martial arts in the postwar period. KARATE BEAR FIGHTER is the second of three films where Chiba portrayed his idol. In it, Oyama wins the nation-wide Japanese karate tournament using his new style. The traditional practitioners are appalled at Oyama's audacity and success, and attempt to have him banned from further tournaments. Oyama rejects their provincialism and continues to hone his style, promising that he will defeat any challengers.
