The sophomore release from Frankie Beverly's Maze is a minor late 1970s soul classic, rivaling their debut and 1979's INSPIRATION as the band's finest. With a smooth edge that nods to Marvin Gaye and, at times, the Philly International sound, Maze turns out silky soul with funk and jazz highlights. Album highlights include the opener "Travelin' Man," the funk call-to-arms "Workin' Together," and the warm, laid-back title cut, but the whole disc is a winner, especially for fans of late-'70s/early '80s smooth R&B.
