This is an excellent collection of Streisand's best work from 1974-1988, with 2 songs recorded specifically for this release. Every tune is a winner, and Babs gets some top-notch help from a wide range of producers including Barry Gibb (who also duets on "What Kind Of Fool" and "Guilty"), Phil Ramone, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Dave Grusin. The two newly recorded tracks, "We're Not Makin' Love Anymore" and "Someone That I Used To Love" are gorgeous, lush ballads that hold up well next to the classics.
Picking up where GREATEST HITS VOLS. 1 & 2 left off, this is a wonderful companion piece to those two collections. The material ranges from pop ballads ("Comin' In And Out Of Your Life," "By The Way") to disco ("The Main Event/Fight")to Broadway ("Memory.") There is something here for everyone, with every song marked by Streisand's signature vocal style. All in all, this is a premium starting point for anyone even remotely curious about what makes Streisand so special.
