Rick James was riding so high at Motown in the early '80s that they signed his backup band and let James produce a couple of albums for them. This self-titled debut actually proved to be better than anticipated. The foursome got four R&B hits from this album, with "All Night Long" just missing the Top 10. They were no great shakes as vocalists, but made up for it with a strong visual act... ~ Ron Wynn

You are sure to love nearly every track on this debut cd by the M.J.G's. JoJo sings lead on most of these tracks penned by the late great Rick James, and rightfully so since she clearly has the strongest vocal ability of all the ladies. The music is 80's R&B at its best and the tunes have stood up well to the test of time. Stand out dance tracks include; "Candy Man", "Boys", "Prove It" and "Jealousy". The ballad, "All Night Long" is a bonafide R&B classic and has been sampled numerous times by various Hip Hop artists. This cd is a must have for any R&B fan and at this price, you should pick one up for a friend!
