Description by OLDIES.com:
Join an ecstatic audience at the renowned Harvest Jazz Festival at the Paul Masson Vineyards in California for a double bill concert sure to consume your soul.
Fronting his own quartet, Bobby Hutcherson performs a set that is simply brilliant. Being consumed and overtaken by the crowd's electricity, Bobby delivers nearly a 30 minute improvisational performance! As a stylist whose playing falls between hard pop and great bop, this vibraphonist has worked with all the contemporary Jazz greats and delivers a sensational and electric performance!
Influenced by both traditional and Brazilian singers and the improvisations of American Jazz Diva's such as Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Flora Purim demonstrates her musical diversity with unique live performances including an improvisation with Airto Moriea and her major international hit "Nothing Will be as it Was Tomorrow."
Two modern jazz heavyweights, Bobby Hutcherson and Flora Purim, are filmed live at California's famed Harvest Jazz Festival. Coming from the gorgeous Paul Masson Vineyards, the two artists perform 2 separate sets that reflect their unique styles. With his quartet, Hutcherson plays a 30 minute concert that is primarily improvised. Following him, Flora Purim and her musicians put on a show that celebrates the blending of Brazilian music with traditional American jazz.
