Description by OLDIES.com:
U.S. undercover agent Harry Wargrave has a straightforward assignment: escort a Soviet defector on Europe's Milan-to-Rotterdam train, then cross the Atlantic and deliver his charge to Washington like a package. Easier said than done. Commandos are out to stop Harry - and a new weapon may be deployed in this patriot game: a devastating avalanche.
Veteran director Mark Robson mans the controls and a first-class cast powers the excitement of this thriller that barrels through scenic locations and constant danger. Robert Shaw (the Jaws star's final film) is the calculating, freedom-bound Marenkov. Academy Award-winner Lee Marvin plays dutiful, cynical Wargrave. And Linda Evans, Maximilian Schell, Horst Buchholz, Joe Namath and Mike Connors all earn their cloak-and-dagger badges as the story bullets from streets to iron rails to the sea. All aboard the Avalanche Express!
Robert Shaw's last film in which he plays a Soviet defector. Marvin is an American agent determined to get him safely delivered across the Milan to Rotterdam railway. But the Soviets will do anything to stop him - including start an avalanche.
