This well-assembled four-CD box set covers most of Nat "King" Cole's career, containing a wealth of vintage hits and lesser-known material, as well as previously unreleased recordings. There's "It's Only a Paper Moon" from his early 1940s jazz trio days, his first number one hit "(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons," the sophisticated, early-'60s "Ramblin' Rose," and "Perfidia," one of his many 1950s Latin recordings. Rarely heard tracks include songs cut with the Stan Kenton Band like "Orange Colored Sky," and live early-'60s performances from the Sands (the Las Vegas headquarters of the Rat Pack), featuring the playful piano solo of "Where Or When," and the artist's sniffy take on the then-new rock & roll craze, "Mr. Cole Won't Rock & Roll."
