In many ways, the long overdue release of this best-of by the multi-talented Abdul recalls a simpler time--a time when an animated alley cat could not only star in a video with a former Laker Girl, but actually get his own recording contract as a result! Seriously, though, the best of Abdul's pop and dance hits--"Straight Up," "Forever Your Girl," "Opposites Attract"--have lost none of their hooky charm over the years.

Abdul may not be a great singer, but her chipmunk-on-helium voice gets the job done anyway, and she always had impeccable taste in producers. A period piece, to be sure, but a highly entertaining one.
