At only ten tracks, the Golden Summer that this collection attempts to recall is every bit as brief as most summers unfortunately seem to be in the real world. One blink and there's snow in the air. Although every track here is memorable, including the Safaris' "Surfer Joe," the Lovin' Spoonful's masterful "Summer in the City," the Rivieras' "California Sun," and Billy Stewart's version of the Gershwins' "Summertime," it's all over before you can even get your seat belt adjusted. ~ Steve Leggett
