After creating a high-brow art calendar featuring 12 of his favorite installations, Simon Morley found himself inundated with requests to kick off his pants and expose his special talent. Partnering with mutually talented Melbourne penis puppeteer, David (Friendly) Friend they adorned themselves with caps and capes and perfected their Ancient Art of Genital Origami, and took Puppetry of the Penis on the road.
The hysterical hardships of their Australian tour and beginnings of their world famous "dick tricks" are captured in rustic outback stations and beautiful historical theatres. Now see for yourself why this controversial cabaret went on to sell out the Melbourne, Edinburgh, and Montreal International Comedy Festivals, was voted London's Best New West End Show and became a smash hit with audiences and critics in Toronto and New York.
In 1996, Australian Simon Morley created a calendar in which each photograph was of his genitalia--which he had carefully manipulated, origami-like, into interesting shapes. As the calendar grew popular, he was asked for live demonstrations, which prompted him to grab his equally fearless and pliable pal David Friend and take the show on the road as PUPPETRY OF THE PENIS. While the show has since conquered several continents, this amusing documentary captures the memorable moments of their first cabaret tour of Australia.
