Description by OLDIES.com:
At the Earth's Core (1976, 90 minutes): Murderous monsters, scantily clad prehistoric playmates and telepathic pterodactyls inhabit the center of our world in this "colorful fantasy-adventure" (Leonard Maltin) about a manned "drill-craft" boring its way to the center of the earth! Starring sci-fi superstars Doug McClure, Peter Cushing and Caroline Munro, this subterranean chiller is the most "endearingly whimsical" (Los Angeles Times) entertainment on - or under - the planet's surface!
AT THE EARTH'S CORE: Peter Cushing (THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK) stars as Dr. Abner Perry, a Victorian scientist who has invented an enormous boring machine. Accompanied by his financial backer David Innes (Doug McClure, MAVERICK), he undertakes an experiment that will take him deep into the Earth's crust. Unfortunately he doesn't know the strength of his own creation, and the machine carries them all the way to the enormous cavern at the center of the Earth. There, the scientists discover an incredible world populated by a prehistoric human race. The humans are ruled over by despotic, telepathic bird-monsters who use them for food and labor. The visitors decide to attempt to free the humans, while the charms of one slave in particular (Caroline Munro, THE BLACK CAT) do not go unremarked.

PETER CUSHING WAS AWESOME. THE SPECIAL EFFECTS WERE NOT BAD, BUT THE FLYING PRE-HISTORIC BIRDS MADE ME THINK I WAS WATCHING AN OLD MONSTER FLICK OUT OF JAPAN. GREAT STORY THOUGH!!! I REALLY ENJOYED IT.. WILL WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN!
