Collectables' 2003 release of Crazy Rhythm by Harry James is a three-disc set that features six albums the jazz trumpeter put out in the '50s on Columbia. The first disc features two records first released in 1954: the swinging live set Harry James at the Hollywood Palladium and the relaxed and intimate Trumpet After Midnight. Disc two collects a couple of rollicking big-band records both from 1950: Dance Parade and Your Dance Date. The third disc features two records released originally in 1955 that have James and band covering the big pop and jazz hits of the past and (then) present: Juke Box Jamboree and Jazz Session. All three of the discs have been previously released separately by Collectables, but if you want a definitive collection of James' work in the '50s, Crazy Rhythm is the set you should get. ~ Tim Sendra
