Product Description:
Personnel includes: Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion. Digitally remastered by Lee Herschberg. Frank Sinatra may have only considered himself a mere "saloon singer," but the late Chairman Of The Board had the market cornered when it came to interpreting material dealing with matters of the heart. Essentially a tour through the Great American Songbook, the 22-track GREATEST LOVE SONGS predominantly draws from Sinatra's '60s Reprise era, (with a quartet of Capitol sides thrown in). Among the great songs Ol' Blue Eyes takes out for a ride are standards by Cole Porter ("What Is This Thing Called Love?"), Rodgers & Hart ("My Heart Stood Still"), and the Gershwins ("I've Got A Crush On You"). Cornerstones of the Sinatra canon that are included on this gorgeous collection are "The Way You Look Tonight," "Strangers In The Nightm" "My Funny Valentinem" and "Fly Me To The Moon" (with Count Basie and his Orchestra). The only misstep is the inclusion of a posthumously recorded duet of "All The Way" with Celine Dion that's the equivalent of sticking a coffee cake into a box of French pastries. Otherwise GREATEST LOVE SONGS is appropriate for pitching woo in either a late-night lounge or the comfy confines of a romantic hideaway.
