Another entry in the popular MCA series of reissues, BACK TO BACK is simply a collection of five tunes by Patsy Cline, and five by Conway Twitty, with no thematic connection as with the Loretta Lynn/Patsy Cline collections of gospel material. Twitty was as popular a country artist in the '70s as Cline was in the late '50s and early '60s, and was just as unafraid of using the pop instrumentation of the time to pursue that popularity, as evidenced by the flare pants-approved guitars, backed by soaring strings on "Rest Your Love on Me," though "I Love You More Today'" has some great honky-tonk pedal steel throughout.

The five Cline tunes are from the Decca recordings of her last three years, and include the hits "I Fall to Pieces" and "Crazy," among others, which amply demonstrate her cultivation of a smooth, pop-crossover sound. BACK TO BACK provides no background information beyond song titles.
