The Fixx have recorded more than their fair share of live albums, but REACT, recorded during the 1986 WALKABOUT tour, is probably the best. For one thing, it's accurately subtitled "Greatest Hits Live," which is nice as The Fixx are one of those bands whose best material is usually their most popular. For another, it contains three excellent and otherwise unavailable studio recordings, "Big Wall," "Don't Be Scared," and "Rules and Schemes," the latter of which is among the group's best songs.

The other 10 tracks cover the band's first four albums, SHUTTERED ROOM, REACH THE BEACH (their creative and commercial peak), PHANTOMS and WALKABOUT. Relatively faithful live versions of hit singles like "Red Skies," "Saved By Zero," the frantic "Are We Ourselves" and the politely poppy "Secret Separation" are all included, besides the inevitable "One Thing Leads to Another."
