Product Description:
This box set includes the 1997 autobiography "CASH".
Johnny Cash's early years at Sun were among his most artistically productive, as evidenced by the quality of this compilation of 30 tracks released during and after his tenure at the label, which he left for Columbia in 1958. His first single, "Cry! Cry! Cry!," is an obvious inclusion, as is its hit follow-up, "Folsom Prison Blues." However, his self-penned gospel song, "Belshazah," is a rarity in that Cash's producer, label owner Sam Phillips, rarely let him record religious material. "Always Alone" harks back to the early influence of Hank Williams, but this overview of Cash's early output is perhaps best summed up by the chugging rockabilly of "Big River" and "Mean Eyed Cat." Partnered with this set is the country icon's autobiography, CASH, which revealingly and candidly charts his often tumultuous career.
