Question: What is a reissue record label?

Top
Answer: A reissue record label releases albums that are out-of-print and have been discontinued by the original record label. As a reissue label, Collectables releases albums across a wide variety of popular genres and many different original record labels.

Question: Why have I never heard of Collectables?

Top
Answer: As a record label, Collectables has been around for over twenty years (we were founded in 1981). Due to an amazing resurgence of interest in the oldies, we’ve been growing at a tremendous rate over the past several years. Our active catalog contains over 2,000 compact discs, and last year alone we released over 300 compact discs.

Question: Do you still manufacture vinyl?

Top
Answer: Yes! We are one of the (very few remaining) record labels that continues to support vinyl. You can find our entire catalog of over 2,500 7-inch vinyl singles (45 RPMs) here on our website!

Question: What kind of quality can I expect from your products?

Top
Answer: In the past six years, we have made extraordinary strides and improvements in the quality of our recordings. Most of our recordings come directly from original studio masters, and the remainder comes from the best available sources.

Question: How can I get a catalog of your products?

Top
Answer: You can request a catalog online here. Please keep in mind that our complete catalog of titles is online, and our website contains our most up-to-date product information.

Question: How can I find out about upcoming releases?

Top
Answer: Check out the Coming Soon sections on our website (Audio CDs, Box Sets, Movies). Here you’ll be able to find out about our releases two to three months in advance of street date. We are sorry, but we do not comment or divulge information on titles, ideas, plans or concepts that are not already posted on this website.

Question: Does Collectables accept suggestions for releases?

Top
Answer: We sure do! When deciding on which titles to reissue, suggestions from customers are a large part of our decision-making process. To make a suggestion, please use our Feedback Form. We are sorry, but due to the hundreds of suggestions that we receive weekly, we are unable to provide individual replies to each submission.

Question: Where can I find your CDs?

Top
Answer: Right here on our website! Our products can also be found in both independent record stores and large retail chains (including Borders, FYE, Tower, Musicland, Sam Goody, Virgin and HMV), mass merchants (Best Buy, K-Mart) and mail-order companies (Nina’s Discount Oldies, Collector’s Choice) nationwide.

Question: Does Collectables accept demos?

Top
Answer: Collectables is a reissue label, and does not accept demos. If you want for Collectables to release your compact disc, we recommend that you follow these easy steps (written by, and graciously plundered from our friends at Rhino Records:
  1. Make a demo.
  2. Get that demo heard by a new-artist-focused record company.
  3. Record a really good, chart-topping album for a company that has, or will have, a good relationship us.
  4. Sell lots of copies and grow your fan base.
  5. Release more albums (optional).
  6. Have your record go out-of-print (generally an automatic function of time).
  7. Sit back and watch your songs appear on [our] compilations and maybe even have your albums reissued by us!

Question: How can I get a hold of out-of-print or discontinued Collectables titles?

Top
Answer: Over the years, Collectables has released well over 2,000 albums. Inevitably, some of these have become either out-of-print or discontinued. Your best bet for locating these (sometimes) rare and (most definitely) hard-to-find items would be to scour the used or discount bins at your local record store. If you are looking for one of our older albums and cannot locate it on our website (which contains our entire active catalog), chances are it is out-of-print or discontinued.

Question: Can I purchase your products on a wholesale basis?

Top
Answer: If you own or represent a retail store or other reseller, you can purchase our product on a wholesale basis by contacting Gotham Distributing at 1-800-446-8426. Our products are also available through most major audio distributors (including AEC and Baker & Taylor) and one-stops.

Question: How do I find how much a record or collectible item is worth?

Top
Answer: We are sorry, but we do not provide appraisals for collections or collectible items.

Question: Can you help me with a music trivia question?

Top
Answer: Due to the volume of e-mail that we receive, we are unable to answer music trivia questions. When we have a question that we cannot answer, we always refer to Google.

Question: Can you help me find more information on an album, song, artist or movie?

Top
Answer: Due to the volume of e-mail that we receive, we are unable to provide information beyond what is on our website. If you are looking for additional information, we recommend that you use either the All-Music Guide or the All-Movie Guide, both of which are excellent free online resources. For movie information, you may also wish to refer to the Internet Movie Database.

Question: Can I get song lyrics, sheet music or karaoke CDs through Collectables?

Top
Answer: We are sorry, but due to copyright restrictions we are unable to provide song lyrics on our website. We do not sell sheet music or karaoke compact discs.

Question: Do you have an affiliate program?

Top
Answer: We are sorry, but we have no plans to offer an affiliate program.
